Steps to reproduce:

Updated to Firefox v149.0.2
Opened up Firefox
went to yahoo.com from within the address bar
went to search box, typed something in, hit enter
[new blank browser page opens instead]
went to google.com from within the same address bar
do the same search and it works as expected
someone else that i know is having the same issue with Firefox and Yahoo.

Actual results:

instead of it doing an actual search, it opens to a new tab

Expected results:

it should do an actual search

Hi,

I see the same behavior in Edge, so this doesn't seem to be a Firefox-specific issue. Instead, looks like the behavior has been changed on the Yahoo side. Could you please check in any browser other than Firefox and tell us what you see?

Same for me. Opens up a new, blank, page with "about:blank" in what should be the the webpage address

I'm unable to reproduce this, is it still an issue? Either way it seems to be a problem with the Yahoo site, rather than Firefox itself.

Yes it's still an issue for me. Several other people have replied to my original post with the same issue. Trying to narrow it down, it seems when I do an initial search for something I'm returned with a new blank page that opens up and get "about:blank" in the address field. If I close that new window and re-click the search then a proper results page comes up. Seems to work ok after that until I come back later and do another search.

Only started happening after upgrade to 149. Does not do it in Brave/Chrome/Vivaldi. Only firefox.

Tentatively moving across to Web Compatibility for investigation. Comment 2 suggests this also happens in Edge, whereas Comment 6 suggests only Firefox.
