removeFoldersContents in Bookmarks.sys.mjs runs await fetchBookmarksByURL(item, true) per descendant when emitting tag-update notifications. For a tag folder with N tagged URLs that's N round-trips.
Collect the URLs once, call fetchBookmarksByURLs(urls) before the notification loop, and look up entries from the returned Map per iteration.
