Steps to reproduce

1. Enable "Homepage Sports Widget" feature from Secret Settings.
2. Set the date and time of the device between 4th-10th of June 2026.
3. Set the theme to dark mode.
4. Launch Firefox, observe the sports widget.

Expected behavior

The sports widget follows the dark theme as specified in the Figma design.

Actual behavior

The sports widget seems to have a darker top and bottom - please see the screenshots (a comparison between dark and light themes).

Device information

• Firefox version: Firefox for Android Nightly 153.0a1 from 5/29
• Android devices: Samsung S24 Ultra (Android 16), Pixel Tablet (Android 16)

I'm not sure why this happened, likely a side effect of a change in the design system, but I also noticed this earlier and I've included the fix in this patch: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2043514

This should be fixed in Nightly, Beta and Release now.

Mira, please can you verify and resolve this bug?

Verified as fixed on the latest Firefox for Android Nightly 153.0a1 from 6/3, using a Pixel Tablet (Android 16).
