RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 2048501

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:153.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/153.0

Steps to reproduce:

OS: Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview build 26300 (Version 25H2)
Firefox channel: Nightly

  1. Open a webpage with a video (Tab 1) and launch the video in Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode.
  2. Leave the PiP window open and playing.
  3. Switch to another tab (Tab 2) and start playing a different video (e.g., on a forum or YouTube).
  4. Double-click the video in Tab 2 to enter fullscreen mode.

Actual results:

The video in Tab 2 enters fullscreen, but the Windows taskbar remains visible on top of the fullscreen video.

Additional Notes:

  • I have been experiencing this issue on Firefox Nightly for about a month or more.
  • The bug is 100% reproducible on a brand-new, clean profile with default settings and no add-ons.
  • If I close the PiP window and double-click the video in Tab 2 again, it enters fullscreen perfectly and the taskbar is correctly hidden.
  • The PiP window itself enters fullscreen correctly when double-clicked. The issue ONLY occurs with the main browser window trying to go fullscreen while an active PiP window is present.
  • Note for developers: This might be a regression caused by the fix for Bug 1995838. In my case, PiP fullscreen works fine, but standard video fullscreen breaks if a PiP window is present.

Expected results:

The fullscreen video in Tab 2 should completely cover the Windows taskbar, just like it normally does without PiP.
At the same time, the PiP window should remain visible and stay on top of the fullscreen video.

gstoll do you think this could be caused by bug 1995838?

It depends on how long this has been going on, but I think bug 2040926 might be more likely.

Vitaliy, just to confirm what you're seeing is covered by the linked patch that's in Nightly since 20260624040957 — can you confirm this is also fixed for you in the current Nightly? Thanks!
