This really does not save the user a step, since one still has to go and delete the file anyway (if it is a one time installer or something similar). Perhaps there should be a temporary directory where such files are kept and then automatically deleted later if the user selects launch instead of save. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I agree entirely, why even bother if the user still has to save, then launch?
I think mozilla should just download the executable to the default temp dir of the system and then execute it.

Heh, I thought that was a bug, because I remebered wrong about the launch warning... It shouldn't be just exe, IE has that option for all file types......
I believe we WONTFIX'd bugs requesting this before, but I can't find them...
Indeed, we wontfixed bugs like this on the basis of this being a security hole big enough to drive trains through. I'm not even going to waste my time looking for the dup.

I still haven't found a reasonable explanation as to why this feature isn't included. It's not a security issue as there is no difference from me clicking open in the browser dialog or by saving it and then clicking open.
