When installing Mozilla 1.4b, all my bookmarks were lost. Never saw this with other Mozilla-install's!

Is there some way to restore it?? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Leave the bookmarks file intact, just as it did before.
Win98 SE: upgraded from 1.2.1 to 1.4 (1) Bookmarks file not recognised by mozille - its still present and intact in {windows directory} \mozilla\bookmarks.html (2) Impossible to save any new bookmarks
