205200 - When installing Mozilla 1.4b, all my bookmarks were lost. Never saw this with other Mozilla-install's!

Mozilla 1.4b, or the installer that came with it, has created a new, empty
bookmarks file, deleting the original contents.

Is there some way to restore it??

Expected Results:  
Leave the bookmarks file intact, just as it did before.

Win98 SE: upgraded from 1.2.1 to 1.4

(1) Bookmarks file not recognised by mozille - its still present and intact in
{windows directory} \mozilla\bookmarks.html

(2) Impossible to save any new bookmarks

Reporter, assuming that you've installed as root or similar this is a dupe of
bug 205053. Please add a comment indicating whether the problem is the same, and
I will mark this as a dupe.
