With offline support the event is created, but after synchronize the event is again added to the calender. So I have 2 identical events. If I disable offline support only one event will be created but with an error.

Steps to reproduce:

My remote calendar is on a debian server (nginx) and calendar is provided by Horde 6. The calendar is correctly displayed. If I create new events (not using Thunderbird!) then everything is going ok. New events, delete events, move events. No problem. In the Thunderbird Calendar every change is displayed correctly. In Thunderbird I can with or without offline support delete and move events. But creating events is not without problems.

Problem exist always on several computers, different users, different calendars.

Actual results:

With offline support the event is created correctly but after synchronize the event is again added to the calender. So I have 2 identical events.
If I disable offline support only one event will be created but with an error.

"An error occurred when writing to the calendar Agenda van user@domain! Please see below for more information."

and

"Status Code: 2,147,746,065, null

Server Replied with 500

If you’re seeing this message after snoozing or dismissing a reminder and this is for a calendar you do not want to
add or edit events for, you can mark this calendar as read-only to avoid such experience in future. To do so, get to
the calendar properties by right-clicking on this calendar in the list in the calendar or task view."

After this error, a re-sync shows the newly added event correctly.

On the server side I don't see any error in the loggings.

Expected results:

If I create an event it must be created once and not twice and without an error. The CalDAV client DAVx5/4.5.14-ose on my Android phone works with the same server and the same calendar without a problem.

Summary: Error creating event → With offline support the event is created correctly but after synchronize the event is again added to the calender. So I have 2 identical events.

Summary is not correct. Without offline support the event is created with an error as described in "actual results".

Thunderbird version 153.0 does not solve the problem.

Did this happen with v150? 151?

I tried version 115.9, 125.0, 128.14, 140.0.1, 150.0.2, 152 and 153. All version responded the same way. So it seems likely to me that Horde version 6 is at least part of the problem.

  1. As described, without the Thunderbird cache Horde respond with an error. In Thunderbird I can see with debugging options on, the error is DAV_PUT_ERROR.

  2. As I earlier wrote, the DAVx5 software on my Android phone gives no error. Therefore I think there must be a difference in how DAVx5 handles the DAV_PUT and how Thunderbird does that.

I wrote Ralf Lang, developer of Horde version 6, that I think Horde is part of the problem.

In Tunderbird sqlite cache file I see no significant difference between the two events that are created with offline support.

If useful, I can send logfiles with the SQL statements in the Horde 6 Mariadb database, with DAVx5 and Thunderbird creating an event.
