Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/115.0
Steps to reproduce:
Login to website and never get prompted to save the login and password. This is happening on 2 different Linux Mint boxes. Upgraded both to 152.0.5 64 bit and the problem persists. Verified both machines have the following.
Ask to save passwords - ON
Fill usernames and passwords automatically - ON
Private browsing - NOT ENABLED
Exceptions - NONE
Cached - Cleared
Agent User String: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:152.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/152.0
Actual results:
Both machines have only been Linux boxes for a few months. Both machines were working properly for at least a while. One has 13 stored websites and the other has 3 stored sites. The stored sites all work properly. Going to an un-stored site no longer prompts to save the password at all. We have manually added several sites to the password list and they work fine as well.
Being Linux boxes, both running Mint 22 Zena, they have had frequent updates and upgrades. One of the machines has the most recent prompted site saved on June 25th, 2026. The other box had the last prompted site saved on June 19th 2026. No changes have been made to the Firefox settings on either machine since well before these dates, yet as of today, neither machine is prompting to save the login info. Also have confirmed that these sites are NOT blocked on my Win 7 machine.
The Firefox on my Win 7 machine, which is 115.37.0esr (64-bit) and is still working properly. Suspect that one of the updates or upgrades has killed the prompt to save the login info.
Expected results:
The expected results were that when creating a new login on a website, we should be prompted to save the login, as has always happened in the past.
All of the "new" websites in question are actually old websites that we are visiting for the first time since going to Linux. The sites we went to after the Linux conversion worked for several months, but now the sites we have not already visited since the conversion, are not saving at all.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Toolkit::Password Manager' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Thanks for the report!
Possibly related to 2052959.
Can you please check whether or not a key icon is displayed in the address bar, which, when clicked, opens the capture doorhanger to save the password?

Hey Johannes,
Okay, there is a key on SOME sites. The first site I went to, had the key. I entered my login and password and was not prompted. I clicked on the key and was prompted to save it and I did.
I went to the next site and the key was there. I entered login and PW and was immediately prompted, without having to hit the key.
I went to another site and again, it worked automatically, like it used to. It was as if clicking once on the key set the "save password" setting that setting in in settings failed to do.
I went to another site and there was no key. Instead there was a different icon. With some difficulty I was able to capture the image and your system will not accept the picture, so I will attempt to reproduce it here __---
When I hover on the icon it says, "You have granted this site additional permissions". It still does not prompt to save the PW when entered. I have found this different icon on several sites.
It appears that all of the sites with the key are working automatically now, and none of the sites with this different icon are saving the login and PW at all.
I hope this helps clarify things. Please let me know if you need more.
Tom
