- Turn on privacy.resistFingerprinting on about:config
- Open web.whatsapp.com
- Paste image in chat
Actual results:
See picture 1 (single color box)

But been having this with older versions of the Nightly version.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Privacy: Anti-Tracking' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

While we don't like breakage, this is not surprising under RFP's very strict behavior. Our suggestion would be to disable RFP (as it is an unsupported mode and you will experience breakage like this) and switch to Firefox's Suspected Fingerprinters protection in Enhanced Tracking Protection. If you want to keep using RFP but want WhatsApp to work, you could grant it canvas permission from the address bar.

dupe of Bug 1631673 ? - suggestions there are to somehow autogrant an exemption if the image was is from the user (it's not going to be a meaningful FP if the image used not controlled). Not sure how that would be done so the canvas can't be re-used and exploited
