Affected versions

  • Firefox Nightly 155.0a1 (2026-07-28)

Affected platforms

  • macOS 26

Preconditions

  • Voiceover on

Steps to reproduce

  1. Reach the Customization panel in a new tab page
  2. Browse over any themes available with the VO controls
  3. Select See More Themes and browse over any themes with VO controls

Expected result

  • Each theme can be selected and applied with VO controls

Actual result

  • The themes are seen as a group ", clickable" and they cannot be applied

Regression range

  • New feature

Additional Notes

  • The issue with sound can be seen in the following attachment
  • After accessing See more Themes, only the first theme on the second row is seen as "Dusk", and can be applied, also focusing the other 4 remaining themes in the second row (seen as group), by pressing the VO controls and space will apply "Tide".

S2 because it's impossible for VoiceOver users to choose these themes.

These seem to be role="option" and arrow key navigation is implemented correctly. However, there is no role="listbox" on the parent/nearby ancestor, making role="option" invalid. The moz-visual-picker element doesn't seem to have role="listbox", but it probably should.

Product: Firefox → Toolkit

This should be fixed by bug 2050157. I can navigate the picker much better, however using the VO rotor or navigating to the theme picker it just announced "listbox". This is bad on the rotor where the fieldset legend right above it isn't shown, if moving down the page in order you at least hear "Appearance" as the immediately previous item, but they should be associated properly. This is bug 2064546

Verified that this is indeed fixed by bug 2050157 and has the exact behavior mentioned by Mark for the "listbox" reading. Tested on Firefox 157.0a1 (2026-09-02) on macOS 14.8.9.

Status: RESOLVED → VERIFIED

Since nightly and release are affected, beta will likely be affected too.
