I always uninstall flash whenever I download mozilla. Before v1.3.1, setting
plugin.display_plugin_downloader_dialog=false prevented flash-using sites from
displaying the annyoing "Download plugin?" dialog box. Now the prevention works
only occasionally (or seldom).
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Remove flash from your system. I did this by deleting the /usr/netscape
directory that comes with mozilla.
2. Go to about:config. Set plugin.display_plugin_downloader_dialog=false
3. Go to http://www.salomonoski.com/us/
4. Plugin downloader will come up. If it doesn't, hit reload a few
times, and it should.
Actual Results:
Plugin downloader dialog came up despite my setting
plugin.display_plugin_downloader_dialog=false
Expected Results:
It should not have brought up the annoying plugin downloader box. This dialog
box is annoying to the extreme. It is a serious plague on the non-flash-user's
browsing experience. Why can't disabling it be put into the preferences as a
straightforward customizable option?
Let's see: I have AdBlock installed. Disabling AdBlock has no effect on this bug.
The pref seems not to be used anymore. Will be fixed with bug 83754.
workaround: Remove the libnullplugin.so files from your mozilla/plugin
directory. Then never a popup ask you for downloading the missing plug in.
