Steps to reproduce:
-
Enable a password manager app on Android.
For example on Pixel: Open Settings app > Passwords and Passkeys.
Under "Preferred service", tap the pencil, and set to Google. -
Create a password entry for reddit.com.
E.g. when using Google password manager, you can do this by opening Chrome, signing in to reddit.com, and agreeing to save the password. -
Now open Firefox, and:
-
"..." (menu button, top-right of the website)
-
Log In / Sign Up
-
Tap in the Password field
Actual results:
- Firefox may show it's own password completion for reddit.com, if it has one. However, Android does not show a password completion for reddit.com, e.g. in the on-screen keyboard.
Expected results:
Android should show a password completion for reddit.com, e.g. in the on-screen keyboard.
It works as expected on other websites, e.g. sufficientvelocity.com.
Also, it works as expected on reddit.com inside the Chrome browser.
I originally saw this bug when using Keepass2Android Offline, as my Android password manager app. So I tested Google password manager as well, to rule out a weird bug in Keepass2Android.
There is another limitation with autofill on the reddit login screen, so maybe my issue is related to this: #2039034
Firefox for Android version: 153.0.2

I can confirm that this is indeed the same bug in bug 2039034
I have managed to whip up a repro example, as well as a possible fix. I am checking with the credential management team, about the potential fix (particularly any side effects of it - performance, functionality, etc.)
Please see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2039034#c2 for more. I'll close this bug as duplicate of bug 2039034
