Steps to reproduce:

Some time ago, I've created a S/Mime certificate, which has expired now. I'm trying to respond to an email, whose sender has a valid S/Mime certificate. The email editor is configured to sign the email using S/Mime.
Once the email got written and send button is clicked, an error message is displayed (Text in German, sorry, I don't have the original English text:
Senden der Nachricht fehlgeschlagen.
Diese Nachricht kann nicht digital signiert werden, da das in Ihren Einstellungen für Ende-zu-Ende-Verschlüsselung ausgewählte Signaturzertifikat nicht für diesen Vorgang gültig ist. ())

Actual results:

I clicked the OK button, and both, the error pop-up and the email text was closed. The email is lost completely, incl. all text etc. entered. It is not written to the Draft or Sent folder.

Expected results:

The error pop-up closes, but the email text window stays open, so I can change settings. Or at least the email is written to the Draft folder, allowing to change its settings and retry sending.
