Came here to report the same. Windows 10.

is this caused by bug 2053724? perhaps fixed in 155?

The issue has been fixed, thanks!

Experiencing the same slow performance of Password Manager. Quite frustrating.

:TIKD Thanks for reporting your experience. If you’re willing to help us diagnose it, a performance profile captured while the slowdown is happening would be really useful to get to the bottom of this (you can record one using the Firefox Profiler at https://profiler.firefox.com/). No obligations though; your report is already appreciated.

This bug also happens to me. Restarting browser (even PC) doesn't help. It randomly triggers window with "master password" when I launch first page, empty page or even local PDF file. Tried to lower enhanced protection, disable containers or "New Tab Override" addon, but it didn't help. Problem started since I updated to FF 154 yesterday.

Unfortunately, this did not help, the problem still persists.

Quite frustrating. According to the release notes, "some users may experience slower performance when Firefox accesses saved passwords", and there's a link to this bug. Okay, but this bug isn't even speaking about slow performance...

"We have rolled out a mitigation" - okay, what exactly should it fix?

It certainly hasn't fixed this issue:

Firefox 154: Delayed automatic login filling; login suggestions disappear after clearing fields; about:logins extremely slow
bug 2065092

:Kamil, :PO, :florian.grueninger, Thanks again for reporting on this issue, and we do very much understand how disruptive this is.

Can we request if you can share the values for the following prefs?

  • signon.storage.rust.enabled
  • extensions.formautofill.useml

And if they are both true, we recommend that you set them to false, and restart the browser. We expect that that should restore the experience.

If you are still experiencing this issue, if we could ask you to share a performance profile (https://profiler.firefox.com/), that would be immensely helpful. Thanks in advance!

  • signon.storage.rust.enabled
  • extensions.formautofill.useml

Both were true. After setting them to false and restarting the browser, my Firefox was finally usable again.

Thank you!

  • signon.storage.rust.enabled

I had them too with true value. I've discovered that switching extensions.formautofill.useml to false does nothing in terms of this password pop-up, but signon.storage.rust.enabled on false helps. I tested it several times and the described result was clearly repeatable. No need to change second pref. Thank you too for workaround.

can confirm signon.storage.rust.enabled set to false fixes the primary password prompt on launch.

Hi, since update to public release 154

no more

  • credentials auto-completion
  • credentials auto-saved or suggested
  • strong password suggestion is not working

Password Database

  • slow to show
  • slow to search
  • really very slow to backup a new manual entry

A big regression ... :-(

I am having the same issues happen since 154.0.

a few days ago I submitted a bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2056140 about gmail password recovery page extremely slow to load passwords due to high cpu use, I hope I'm not the one to poke the fox and break everything but -anyway- its extremely frustrating to use a browser without a password autofill. I suppose this is a problem with "profiles" suddenly appeared on the top of the browser. even though I'm using a single profile, it still can't autofill my passwords (also, clicking delete on the "color change" literally deletes profile, what the actual something something). yes, I'm using a master password and for each login I have to type the password - all 30 characters of it to make up for a character loss in the browser. see? pun. its intended!

Marking as fixed by bug 2063993 for the 154.0.1 dot release on Tuesday. (Already mitigated remotely)
