Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030516 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507 When starting 1.4b for the first time, it informs me it can't read the abook.mab file and has renamed it into abook.mab.bak. Getting a version 1.3 abook.mab and copying it into the right place while 1.4b is NOT running and then starting 1.4b gives the same message. This reminds me of 1.3.1 which was picky too. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start 1.4b while a pre-1.4b built abook.mab is in the right place in the file system Actual Results: Error message and a newly created abook.mab file which has no addresses in it. Every single address I've used up until now is lost. There seems to be no way to retrieve the addresses from the old abook.mab file. Expected Results: An address book where all the addresses still were valid. The same problem could be observed while switching from 1.3 to 1.3.1.
Reporter: If you open your abook.mab in a working build, do you have an attachment box in the message pane if you read a mail with an attachment ? example: http://matti.no-ip.org/attachment.jpg
I'm afraid you'll have to clarify what you mean by "open your abook.mab in a working build". Do you mean copying the file to the proper place in the file system? Regarding the second part of the question, I haven't seen a case yet where a received email message which has an attachment didn't result in an attachment box in the message pane.
I mean : put your "damaged" adressbook back into the correct place and start 1.3 (or which build do you think can handle this file ?)
Too bad I've wiped 1.3 from this system. Reading the release notes, it seems to be unsafe to have several of 1.3, 1.3.1 and 1.4b installed at the same time on a system. On the other hand, 1.4b complained about a 1.4b generated abook.mab file. At that point, I had to start a new Address book. Luckily enough, I had a fairly fresh CVS file I had exported the Address book to. I've started the habit to Export the Address book as a CVS file when I've changed the content.
Oh yes, there was no crash of the program nor system involved at the time 1.4b could't read it's own abook.mab file. I just had exited 1.4b cleanly and later started 1.4b again.
