In the main page at http://espn.go.com/main.html, there is a new advertising
scheme that is causing the page to freeze. They are incorporating a flash ad
that moves up after about 5 seconds. After these 5 seconds, all of the links
become unclickable and the page becomes useless. One workaround right now is to
use a bookmarklet to disable all of the flash content on the page.
This problem can also be seen on www.joins.com. In this case, you cannot click
the "close" button on the flash advertisement that pops up in the main page.
After the ads complete, some links are clickable but most of the page becomes
error-prone.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to www.espn.go.com
2. go to www.joins.com
3. go to any major website that uses pop-up style flash advertisement
Actual Results:
Links become unclickable
Expected Results:
Links should be clickable

summary mentions crash, but your comments do not - is mozilla actually crashing?
If so can you please provide any talkback IDs or crash logs
I think my wording was wrong on the summary. It is not a complete crash, but
the effect is similar to a crash. I have changed the summary to reflect that it
is not a crash in the sense that it doesn't make mozilla unusable - the webpage
becomes unuseable.
Summary: espn.go.com home page crashes after flash advertisement ascends → espn.go.com home page unusable after flash advertisement ascends

This error is occurring for myself as well. Specifically it occurs when
espn.go.com has one of their "collapsing" flash advertisements at the top of the
page.
The advertisement appears for a few seconds (maybe 5 or 6), during which time
the page is viewable, but then the advertisement collapses and in many cases the
page does not refresh correctly (if you scroll the vertical scroll bar, the text
and images vanish). If rather than scrolling the page, you attempt to click on
any of the displayed links, nothing happens.
I'm currently using win32 daily build 2003042105 on Win98, but this has been
behaving like this for most of this year.
About plug-ins provides this info:
Shockwave Flash
File name: NPSWF32.dll
Shockwave Flash 6.0 r65
According to my business partner who has been using the Netscape 7 releases
(Win98) instead of Mozilla daily builds, this is also a problem for him.

Another workaround is to simply resize the browser, even by the smallest amount,
to restore
full functionality.
I'ver verified this workaround on both Win2K and Linux.
