Preconditions

Steps to reproduce

1. Launch Firefox.
2. Focus the new tab search bar.
3. Open the result menu of a trending prediction and select the “Don’t show trending searches”.

Expected result

• The “Thank you for your feedback. You won’t see trending searches anymore.” pop-up should be displayed.

Actual result

• After disabling trending searches, no pop-up is displayed; one trending search is still shown in the new tab search bar.

Reproduced the initial issue using Nightly 157.0a1 2026-09-03.

Verified as fixed on Firefox 157 beta 2 and latest Nightly 158.0a1, under Win 11 and macOS 15. Filled bug 2073612 for when the dropdown closes after dismissing the trending searches.
