Environment:
Operating system: Windows 10
Firefox version: Firefox Nightly 157.0a1 (2026-09-03)

Preconditions:

  • Clean profile

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Navigate to: https://mdn.github.io/dom-examples/web-speech-api/speech-color-changer/
  2. Click the "Start recognition" button, then enable microphone permission
  3. Dictate any listed color
  4. Notice, that the color of the page changes accordingly
  5. Click the "Start recognition" button, dictate a different listed color, and observe the page

Expected Behavior:
"Start Recognition" button is working accordingly

Actual Behavior:
"Start Recognition" button does not trigger speech recognition

Notes:

  • This issue was identified during speech recognition testing phase
  • Reproducible on the latest Nightly
  • Reproducible regardless of the ETP setting
  • Works as expected using Chrome
