KB content update
Please summarize the request, emphasizing any user-facing changes. Include historical context or background information if it helps users understand the new features or changes. [REQUIRED]
The "Common Myths about Private Browsing" KB article has some outdated information. Since the timing coincides with the Private Window Nova redesign, the Platform Privacy and Felt Privacy teams collaborated on major content changes to the article in this doc, which Legal has approved.
The proposed new article is not highlighting any changes to user-facing changes - we're updating what Private Windows currently offer for accuracy. Regarding Nova, we plan on updating the images in general Private Browsing KB article shortly after Nova lands in Release 157 (early October) since it's only a visual refresh.
Are the user-facing changes mentioned above for the production release, or is the feature/change experimental/ beta? (Production, Experimental or Beta) [REQUIRED]
No user-facing changes involved in this article update.
Are the new features or changes region-specific? Are they going to be released in a gradual rollout? [REQUIRED]
The content change is global - no new features involved.
Please indicate if this is an on- or off-train release [REQUIRED]
Product off-train (although there is a small tie to Nova since Private Window is getting a visual refresh.)
What is the anticipated release date? [REQUIRED]
September 29, 2026 (if possible, to align with the Nova Fx157 release)
Does the content need to be published prior to the release date? If so, when? [REQUIRED]
If there's capacity, yes, please, but the content change is off-train.
Does the content need to be localized in any languages outside of EN-US? If yes, please indicate which languages. [REQUIRED]
Yes, please, in all our localizable languages, but could we publish with EN- first?
Please include any related JIRA/Github/Bugzilla tickets, documentation, demos or practical use cases. [REQUIRED]
N/A - this is a content change for accuracy over an existing feature rather than a new feature.
Please include links to any design assets, visuals, figma files, etc. [REQUIRED]
N/A for this article - the general Private Browsing KB article changes will be filed as a separate ticket with updated visuals.
Please add instructions for testing that will enable us to replicate the expected product behavior. [REQUIRED]
N/A
Does the content need approval before publishing?
No - Ashley Roybal-Reid and Privacy engineering leadership has approved the content as drafted in this Google Doc.
