User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:156.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/156.0
Steps to reproduce
When I click (and hold) the New Tab button, the container context menu appears.
- When I release the mouse button, the hover behavior returns to normal.
- If I right-click, the context menu appears and the hover behavior is correct.
- I have the same issue with horizontal tabs.
- I'm using Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS wayland.
Actual results
Hover effects are applied to the elements above it (see attachment).
Expected results
Hover effects are applied to the elements under cursor (elements of context menu).

This is very similar to the chain of bugs hanging off Bug 2003045.
Is this new in 156.0, or did you notice the problem before?
I'm wondering if it is a recent regression or not. A mozregression run would help narrow it down, if you were willing to try?

Bug 2045630 is a similar bug. And, I have tried https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/merge_requests/9956. It fixes the issue describe here.
