User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0; T312461) Build Identifier: http://www.mozilla.org/releases/index.html#1.4rc1 Whenever I install a new version of Mozilla, I always get XPCOM errors on startup for the first run of the new version. With 1.4rc1, I'm now getting a crash. Subsequent runs also yield crashes, so I'm stuck and have to revert to 1.3.1. Here is the crash panel info, what little it is: The instruction at "0x610f0769" referenced memory at "0x4d7a6f6d". The memory could not be "read". I figured I should post a bug report on this one, as it's a showstopper for me. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install 1.4rc1 2. Impatiently wait for installer to complete and await the first run of Mozilla 1.4rc1. 3. See a crash. Actual Results: I install 1.3.1 over 1.4rc1, and I get a running Mozilla. Expected Results: Don't crash, just show me some XPCOM MessageBox'es and then work properly on subsequent runs. Normal theme, nothing really interesting except that this box has seen upgrade after upgrade of every version of Navigator since 4.77 through the latest Mozilla, and I think it's starting to buckle.
Here's the error messages I see when I reinstall Mozilla 1.3.1: 1. Error Message Box Title: Unable To Locate DLL Text: The dynamic link library xpcom_compat.dll could not be found in the specified path <my path follows> 2. Error Message Box Title: Entry Point Not Found Text: The procedure entry point ??1nsAVLTree@@QAE@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library xpcom.dll. 3. Error Message Box Title: Unable To Locate DLL Text: The dynamic link library xpcom_compat.dll could not be found in the specified path <my path follows> 4. Error Message Box Title: Entry Point Not Found Text: The procedure entry point ??1nsAVLTree@@QAE@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library xpcom.dll. I hope this helps!
I have the almost exact history and results as the reporter of this bug. However, the Windows XP feedback agent is popping up before the Mozilla one so I am not getting as rich crash information as the original reporter. I am getting this from the XP feedback agent though: AppName: mozilla.exe AppVer: 1.4.20030.52908 ModName: xpcom.dll ModVer: 1.4.20030.52908 Offset: 00040769 Moving back to 1.3.1 is also working for me... and I am getting the same errors on startup.
