The junk mail filter is running on mail that has already been filtered.
Mail passing another filter should, at least optionally, not be considered junk
mail.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Mail satisfying a regular filter appears on junk mail folder.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
A review of the junk mail folder turned up two emails that were selected by
regular filters.
Expected Results:
At least optionally, the junk mail filters should not run on email that has
already been selected by another filter.
I have about 30 email folders with one filter for each folder. The filtering
rules vary from folder to folder, with some simply using the email address in
the Mailing-List header, others using people's email addresses (not all of which
are in my address book).
The junk mail filter should not, at least optionally, be run on these messages.
It is really only mail that does not get selected by any other filter that needs
to be junk mail filtered.

It depends on your filters, obviously. I have a filter that filters mail
directly to me into a personal folder, but I want the spam filter to run on that
folder as well since I get a lot of spam directly addressed to me. So we could
have a junk mail setting that says "only analyze messages in my INBOX", or a
per-folder setting. The former is obviously a lot easier to implement.

This bug should be marked as confirmed. It happens on Linux and AIX both.
This bug severity should also be raised as people with many complex filters
continually have to add email senders addresses to their address book which
slows down recipient completion when composing mail.

changing summary and confirming - it's probably a dup. There's probably a bug
out there to be able to pick and chose which folders to apply the junk mail
filters on.

Appears to be a dupe of bug 198961.

Dupe or Invalid. By default the Junk Mail Controls only filter messages in the
Inbox folder and its sub-folders, which is almost what the bug summary says.

The last comment is incorrect. Jumk mail filtering fires off at the strangest
times. Several include:
1) entering a folder
2) doing searches
Having mail filters run first, then junk filtering only on the Inbox seems like
it solves the majority of problems.
Having the ability to explicitly turn on junk filtering for other folders may be
useful also.
