User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3.1) Gecko/20030425
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3.1) Gecko/20030425

For some reason I cannot install Mozilla 1.4 RC1, when I run the install program
it goes thru the process and finishes but when I try to start Mozilla I get an
error. I restart and I still get the error, I deleted everything Mozilla on my
computer and tried to reinstall but same problem so I had to switch back to
1.3.1, this is weird though cause I installed 1.4 beta and it installed and
worked fine but I went back to 1.3.1 because it was just more stable.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install 1.4 RC1
2.Open it
3.Get Error

Actual Results:
I get an error message that I haven't copied yet but if need I will install
Mozilla 1.4 RC 1 again and post it.
Reporter: did you uninstall your previous mozilla before ?

Do you mean "Entry Point not found ..." ?

I had this same problem on my Windows 2000 box. I was running 1.41a and was trying to install 1.41rc1 .. After that failed I tried 1.41b and 1.41a again.

I finally got 1.41rc1 to install by deleting the entire mozila.org directory in Program Files. I also had deleted all of the mozilla.org content in Common Files, and had renamed my mozilla.org folder in Documents and Settings \ userid \ Applications Settings.

I was able to put my profile back after the install was complete.

Hope this helps.
I did all that, I removed the folder, removed 1.3.1 I removed everything
associated with Mozilla but still doesn't install. And I put up the error
message but don't know what the problem is.
This error is actully an Access Violation, according to the debugger of my MS
Visual Studio 6.0.

The problem is somwehere in the XPCOM are: "Access Violation: instruction at
0x610f0769 tries to read from address 0x694d736e" (I have translated back from
the Hungarian error message of my Win2k Prof SP3 HUN)

Experiences
I have used 1.3.1 previously. I have uninstalled as recommended by my previous
experience.

I RECOMMEND A BLOCKER priority on this bug... I guess that it affects all Win32
platforms.
First I have tried to install the brand new 1.4 version (talkback enabled full
windows installer). Installation runs just fine, but the final launch of the
error fails with access violation.

Similar things happened during earlier upgrades (e.g., froóm 1.2 to1.3, because
of my add-ons ((I tend to use Hungarian language/region pack, plus Multizilla
with Googlebox and Calender), which become unregistered during the upgrade,
previously a reboot usually helped. So, I have tried to reboot. Problem remains.
I have tried to start with "-mail", same error.

I have uninstalled 1.4 from the Win control panel, the uninstall was ok.

I have tried the Netinstaller, same symptoms.

I have tried to "downgrade" to 1.4.RC3, same symtomps with that full installer.

I gave up and reinstalled 1.3.1, that works just fine, my profile has survived
intact all the adventures above, thank's God.
Additional comment:
This seems to be a duplicate of bug 209896
(http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209896)
That bug is already assigned with a blocking priority, I suggest to marj this
bug as a duplicate...
