User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030529 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030529 I was installing 1.4 (candidate 1) to replace my old 1.2b install. I noticed the installer say that it was Installing GRE, then looked away from my screen. When I looked back I briefly saw a BSOD, but was unable to read the text on it before my computer rebooted itself. I then attempted the install again when I had returned to Windows, and it worked fine. Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
can you try again with latest 1.4 build ? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest-1.4/ Do you have write access to your [Common files] folder (normally located in [system drive]\Program Files\Common Files)? If not, may see bug 207978 which is fixed in latest builds.

I do have access to my [Common Files], yes. The nightly build worked, but then 1.4 rc 1 worked the second-time around...
Marking WFM as per reporter comments. A BSOD is an OS issue which an application cannot trigger, probably a coincidence that BSOD happened during Mozilla install.
