User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030529 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030529 In the Bookmark Manager window, clicking on a column heading to sort the list does not sort the whole list of bookmarks, but only sorts within bookmark folders. Mozilla should either: 1. Sort across all (except in "unsorted" mode, of course). 2. Provide two forms of sorting, one across folders and one within folders. This is a Netscape 4.x parity bug: It allowed sorting without regard to folders. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on a column heading. 2. Notice that bookmarks still appear under the same folders, and that bookmarks in different bookmarks are not sorted into locations next to each other. Actual Results: See step 2.

WHY would you want to sort across folders??? I place bookmarks into folders for a reason; that is where I want them. Sorting across folders would obviate that organization. IMO this is not a 'bug' at all [but a 'feature', as one of my development friends would say]. I would suggest this should be removed.

I agree. (Huh?) I must have written then before I noticed that Mozilla wasn't just changing the display order but was actually rearranging how they were stored. Yes, I agree that sorting the bookmarks permanently destroys the user's effort in arrangement the bookmarks. How do I retract this report?
