Dead keys does not work under Linux.

I tested French dead keys in Input text field of http://babel/tests/browser/bft/latin_1/bft_browser_form_latin_1.html,
Find field of Find on this page dialog, and Composer.  Dead keys does not work.

Steps of reproduce
1. Login Linux as root
2. Open the file XF86Config under /etc/X11 directory
3. Change from "XkbLayout  us"  to "XkbLayout  fr"
4. Logout and login as yourself
5. Launch Mozilla

I tested in 120608 Linux build.

what is the key for dead key in fr keyboard ?

Frank, I thought you were talking about bug 7614.  Dead key does not work in Composer, either.

I tested dead keys in VI and emacs.  VI works dead keys but emacs does not.
In French keyboard,
     ("[" is US key) + e = ê
     shift + ("[" is US key) + e = ë

I think my fix for 7614 also this bug. I test under exceed w/ swissger.kbf.

hum.. are you sure you set up your deadkey xmodmap corectly ? In my linux, I do 
the folowing
cd /usr/share/xmodmap
xmodmap - < xmodmap.fr
(or xmodmap.de)

And the deadkey work (except the focus problem in bug 24614 bug 24615 )

both deadkey and compoition key is not working. Teruko, please make sure the 
dead key is enable in your Linux system first. I know some Linux X server simply 
does not support Dead Key.

I tested this in 2000030608 Linux build.  I did 
cd /usr/share/xmodmap
xmodmap - < xmodmap.fr

Dead key does not work.  I tested dead key in vi, and it works fine in vi.

It is working for me. I hit the english key '['+q/e/i/o/u or Shift'['+q/e/i/o/u 
and get correct result in frech keyboard. Notice you have to hit 'q' for 'a' 
since in french keyboard layout a and q swap.

WORKSFORME. I tested on M15(2000041805) and a recent local build(2000042708)
on Linux. My settings are:
	LANG="french"; LC_ALL="french",
I input "dead_tilde" with "a", "A", "n", "N", "o", and "O", and all combinations
work fine.

After I changed the settings LANG="french"; LC_ALL="french", I tested this again
in 2000-05-22-08 Linux build.  Dead keys still does not work in Redhad Linux 6.0 
US.

And, I tested this in Redhad 6.2 Japanese with French locale, but dead key does 
not work.  

Tajima-san, do we need to have certain file to install in order to work dead 
key?

Hmm, this bug is still there. :-( But the dead keys are sometimes functional. I
can't understand why sometimes yes and sometimes no.
On the page http://www.underground.cz/ the dead keys are working fine on text
input boxes. But on the other hand on the page http://www.root.cz/ or for
example here on Bugzilla the dead keys aren't working at all. In the URL field
of the browser the dead keys work. Why?

I can't understand the reasons, but on the page http://www.root.cz/ the dead
keys started working when I switched to 3-5 days later nightly build - I now use
2000071321. Although here on Bugzilla the dead keys still doesn't work.

I guess this problem is related with 42263 that we're now trying to fix.
I've verified I could enable IME on the textfield of http://www.root.cz/ and
URL field of Mozilla but I could not enable IME on BugZilla. So if we could
fix 42263, this problem also can be solved.

42263 has been solved. Now I can use IME on all input fields on
BugZilla.

Tom and Teruko-san, could you check this problem is still
reproducible on the latest build?

started to work some time in August. It works today too.
