User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030617 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030617 An entry in user profile ca be picked only at (every?) second access/startup. mozilla under linux (both red hat 7 and 9). Version of mozilla 1.4rc2 currently, but the problem has been observed for the last four months or so. Presumably version 1.3 had such problems. This symptom is hard to describe, but let me try to explain. My profile has the following entries after months of using early version of mozilla. ---------------------------------------- default Default User ci CI-new <--- This is my main user profile. new user ---------------------------------------- Upon startup, the Mozilla Profile Manager starts up and show the above entries. However, on the initial startup, the entry "CI-new" is not selectable. I have no idea why. (I move the mouse, but can't click on "CI-new" entry. So I can't run mozilla using the profile.) I have to start mozilla using, say, "ci" user profile. (I click on "ci" and change its color into blue and run mozilla under the profile.) Then I quit mozilla. After closing mozilla, I restart mozilla and then this time around, I can choose "CI-new" entry from the profile manager. Once I close this instance of mozilla, and restart mozilla, the user profile again refuses to let me select CI-new by mouse clicking. This is rather strange. Once upon a time, I thought it might be related to some locking issues (like a mozilla instance was running when the system was shutdown on the previous day.). . However, after the few trials, such stale locking issues should disappear. As I explain above, mozilla refuses to let me select the "CI-new" entry on odd-numbered startup try and if that happens, I have to choose "ci" and start mozilla once and closes it so that I can somehow choose "CI-new" entry the next time around. This is weired. (Sometimes, this odd/even numbered trial behavior breaks down and I can choose "CI-new" consecutively, but this is rare.) This is not a fatal bug, but is certainly annoying. It seems as if there were some non-initialized variables in the user profile manager code or something. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run mozilla 2. See the entries shown in user profile manager 3. Verify that "CI-new" is not selectable. 4. Choose different entry, say, "ci" and run mozilla. 5. Quite mozilla. 6. Restart mozilla. 7. See now that "CI-new" is selectable in user profile manager. Expected Results: I should be able to select "CI-new" user profile every time I start mozilla (unless of course, someone else is using it.).
