When one downloads a message with binary attachment (jpeg image in this case),
mail doesn't seem to keep it upon Mozilla close. Consequently, that message will
be downloaded all over again next time mail is started and that message is
selected. For the record, the messages are in the inbox folder of an
ssl-accessed server. Are messages not supposed to be cached upon download to
save the user having to download them all over again?
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select a message with a large attachment
2 [review]. Wait for it to download
3. Close Mozilla
4. Reopen Mozilla
5. Rinse and Repeat.
Actual Results:
The message will take just as long to download again
Expected Results:
The message should be there already without delay.

about it when you click "sync".

you just need to configure the imap folder for offline use (folder properties |
offline | select this folder for offline use)

David, did you try out your suggestion?
No, marking for "offline use" will not help! As long as the message exceeds the
maximum size given in "Offline & Disk space setting", it will not be downloaded
when mail folders are synced.
But if you open the attachment (double click on it), Mozilla will download it
and display it (using the appropriate programm, e.g. Adobe Reader for pdf
attachments). Now the complete message has been downloaded. Still the icon in
the message list shows that the message is _not_ cached.
Thus if you close and reopen Mozilla and select the attachment, it will be
downloaded once more.
I think this bug is still valid.

That's how I reproduced the bug:
--------------
Send youself an email and add some jpeg images as attachment. The email should
exceed the limit set in "Mail Account Settings" -> "Offline & Disk Space" .
Retrieve this new mail, click on the message. Now the message will be downloaded
completely as all images are shown inline.
Confirm, that the envelope icon _does not_ turn grey (grey==cached, white==not
cached).
Close Mozilla completely and reopen it. Access this email again. The images have
to be downloaded once more.
--------------
Maybe this is not a bug but a feature as the message _does_ exceed the size
limit which has been set by the user. And one could argue that consequently the
message is not stored/cached.
If so, why is the message stored when the user selects it and chooses "File" ->
"Offline" -> "Get selected messages"?

Hi!
This bug should either be NEW (because attachment are downloaded over and over
again) or INVALID (because attachments exceeding the download limit are never
stored), but not marked as WFM, because marking for offline use does not do what
the reporter requested.
