User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030612 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030612 I don't know if this is the same bug as reported in 207636 (I am not a programmer). I can never type in the complete word(s) to be searched; Mozilla crashes as soon as 1, 2 or 3 characters are typed into the field. I never get a chance to press the 'return' key to complete the entry. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: The 800 MHz G4 has 1 Gb RAM. I closed supplemental programs, running only the Internet connection and Mozilla to maximize free RAM and minimize interference from other applications running in the dock. Actual Results: No differences. Mozilla continues to crash upon entering a few characters into the bookmark search field. Expected Results: Bookmarks seem to be the bane of Mozilla's existance, going back to a bug 206727 that I reported last May 22, 2003. As then, and now, one factor in all of this may be the very large bookmark file (about 1000 entries, 950 kB). (That stems from my magazine writing and research on the Web back to 1994.)
Do you see a crash or a hang ? If you see a crash : Please attach a OS X crash log via the "create new attachment " link

Sounds like this is a duplicate of bug 207636 . See that report for temporary solution.
I've read and studied 207636. I don't know why my original search didn't find this one before. Unfortunately I'm not enough of a programmer to confirm the similarity of 207636 to this bug. I can say with certainty I do like Mozilla but the inability to search the bookmark file since coming aboard in 1.2 or 1.3 is a continuing severe feature failure (in my humble opinion as an end user). I have developed software in the distant past, I don't do it any longer, and I appreciate and understand the problems of development, testing and support... it ain't easy. But this thing is continuing, ongoing and always happens. As an end user, researcher and writer, with a huge bookmark file, I cannot afford to play around with the bookmark file or risk losing the file to "testing". Exporting to backup files are usually 2x a day... so my comments are meant to help and to try to be supportive. I hope they are taken that way.
Thomas, can you please provide a os x crash log (see comment #1)? Without a stack it's really hard to do any further investigation.
