Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 When I start Mozilla Address Book, the divider bar between the card name and the card summary goes into a rapid cycle where it jumps up and down, which causes a resizing the window bigger/smaller very rapidly, and the white space in the summary window overlaps the status bar when the divider is in the lower position. If I then click on Collected Addresses to open the Collected Addresses window which is empty, the quirky jittering stops. Then If I drag the divider down to resize the window and then switch back to Personal Address Book, the jitter is gone with the new window size...until the next time I open Address Book. Address Book doesn't remember the resized window state, but reverts back to the original divider bar position and goes into the jittery state again upon restart. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click on Address Book icon in the browser component bar. 2.The jittery motion of the card windows starts. 3.Click on Collected Addresses in the Address Books list window. 4.Click and drag the Card window divider bar down to enlarge the card name window. 5.Click on Personal Address Book in the Addres Books list window. 6.The jittery motion of the divider bar is gone. 7.Close Address Book. 8.Restart Address Book. 9.The window resizing wasn't remembered and the jittery motion is back. Actual Results: As Explained. Expected Results: No jittery motion or loopy window behavior. The divider bar position should be stable and remembered between sessions and the white space of the Card Summary window should NOT overlap the status bar. This white space overlap has been a persistent problem with Mozilla for a long time and should be fixed once and for all.
This bug appears when using the Classic theme. Also, I'm using 640x480 resolution and the jittery motion only occurs if I have about 2-4 entries in my address book. It seems that the jittery motion may be a result of the address list window trying to automatically resize to accomidate the entire height of the last entry (speculation). The motion DOESN'T occur if I add more than about 4 entries or less than 2. To test this bug, the user should set their screen resolution to 640x480 and create an address book. The Card preview pane must be visible for this bug to show up. Add 2 entries and check by closing and then restarting the address book. Then add 1 more at a time and check after each new addition. The bug should become visible after 3 or 4 entries are present in the address list.
Reporter, please recheck this in a 1.4.1 candidate build or recent trunk build, and resolve the bug if appropriate. This looks similar to fixed bug 201379. Also note the example mentioned in that bug, http://www.xulplanet.com/tutorials/xultu/examples/findfile/findfile-trees.xul
