User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 I have the browser configured to start with an empty page. If I try pasting anything (including plain text copied from Notepad) into the first browser window's address bar nothing happens. As far as I can remember, this has started to happen some time during the 1.4 releases, but I'm not 100% certain. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure Mozilla to start with Browser and Mail 2. Configure Mozilla to start with an blank browser page 3. Close Mozilla 4. Start Mozilla 5. Copy text from Notepad 6. Select address bar on the first browser page and hit "CTRL+V" Actual Results: Nothing Expected Results: Pasted the text in the address bar I'm not sure what would've happened if I didn't have Mozilla configured to start with a blank page. I'll add an additional comment documenting that after I finish filling in this bug.
If I configure Mozilla to start with an URL (home page) then it works as expected. Also, I forgot to mention that even if it's configured to start with a blank page, subsequent new windows work as expected, so the problem can be avoided by hitting "CTRL+N"; "CTRL+V" instead of simply "CTRL+V" in step 6 above (thus opening a new window prior to pasting). But that's still annoying, as you can imagine. :)
I have the exact same problem. But I'm using Linux, so the plattform doesn't seem to be the problem. I also tested this on a clean 1.4 install with only the middle-click scroll xpe applied. I think the severity should be increased to normal, as this is really quite annoying, because i often copy urls from somewhere.

That's curious, now it works for me, in Mozilla 1.6 (to be exact, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113). What I did when this originally happened was to start Mozilla with only the mail window and then pop open the first browser window as I needed it, if I remember correctly. (Wouldn't bet money on this though.)
