WFM. Do you use a GTK2 enabled build ? I can see this kind of bug with it.
Using a current CVS based trunk build, GTK1 (only), linux.
Yes I'm using the GTK2 and XFT enabled build from here:

Adding [gtk2] in summary to help bug triaging.
I will try to find a duplicate as soon as possible.
Summary: CTRL+SHIFT+C doesn't work. Message/Mark/All Read does. → [gtk2] CTRL+SHIFT+C doesn't work. Message/Mark/All Read does.

Some problem for me, both with 1.4 branch and 1.5a trunk.
Compiled with gtk2 and XFT
--prefix=/usr/local --with-pthreads \
--enable-crypto --disable-tests --disable-debug \
--enable-optimize='-O3' --without-debug-modules --enable-strip-libs \
--enable-xft --enable-default-toolkit=gtk2 --enable-toolkit-gtk2 \
--with-gtk2 --enable-calendar
Compiler is gcc-3.2.
