211911 - Firebird Nightlies refuse to use existing profile

Running happily with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a)
Gecko/20030627 Mozilla Firebird/0.6
Tried updating 2003-07-06-08-trunk, then 2003-07-05-16-trunk.  In both cases,
when Firebird starts it asks me to create a profile.  Because I have valued data
in my current (Firebird 0.6 only) profile, I tried pointing to the existing
directory.
Firebird immediatly and silently dies.

As a side note, when I type a profile (directory) name in the dialog, the
expanded pathname displayed lags by one character and, I'd swear, once it
transposed tow[sic] characters -- gee, I don't need software to do that.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Firebird
2. Start it up
3.

Actual Results:  
See description, prompts me to create a profile.

Expected Results:  
Opened using the existing profile.
