when you try to visit http://infotech.fanshawec.on.ca the browser freezes as
does all programs running. If you try to shut down the browser you are unable,
and (Not Respondong) appears in the title bar of the browser window. There seems
to be lots of hdd activity, and when I checked task manager, cpu usage of
mozilla was 100%. If you wait long enough and don't touch anything, the page
will eventually load. I have also noticed this problem running firebird under linux.

I can confirm this with the 20030706 build, but this could very well be a 
duplicate of an already existing bug.

Just had a quick look on this. The page seems to use the well known "DHTML Menu
Builder" template from xFX software (just have a look at the source code - there
you'll find the same check for the browser type and version like mentioned for
example in bug #173944 comment #5).

I also checked by disabling JS - by doing so the page gets loaded immediately =>
dupe of #173944 or perhaps there are other bugs related to this DHTML Menu
Builder issue?

based on boris zbarsky's analysis of the software, there is a bug in this
software that forces Mozilla down a massively inefficient path,  see the
comments noted below.
