I've decided to file an offical bug report since the other bug (198562) was
filed for Moziall 1.3.
Once again, I've installed a fresh copy of Red Hat Linux 8.0 then installed
Mozilla 1.4 RPMS for Red Hat Linux 8.0 as well as Real Player 8.0 RPM with
mozilla plugin configured. As I reported in the other bug (198562), Real Player
plugin does not work any more.
As a test, I removed all Mozilla 1.4 RPMs for RH 8.0 and installed a generic
tarball for Mozilla 1.4 and Real Player Plugin is working again.
Another test, I installed Mozilla 1.4 RPMs for RH 7.3 instead of RH 8.0 on my
Red Hat Linux 8.0 and the Real Player Plugin is working too.
At this point, I can't only conclude there is compatiblity issue between XFT
compiled RPMS for RH 8.0 and RealPlayer Plugin.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Fresh Install Red Hat Linux 8.0
2.Fresh Install Mozilla 1.4 RPMs for RH 8.0
3.Fresh Install Real Player 8.0 with mozilla plugin configured
Actual Results:
Real Player Plugin does not work under Mozilla 1.4 RPMs for RH 8.0
Expected Results:
I expcted to work under Mozilla 1.4 RPMSs for RH 8.0

This seems like a direct duplicate of bug 198562. Something in the combination
of gtk2 and GCC 3.x makes things incompatible (lots of api and ABI changes
there, basically).

actually, it's really bug 178805. Mozilla's gtk2 code does not have the hacks
implemented in its gtk1 code to allow older plugins to work with gcc3-compiled
Mozillas.

Ok, I rebuilt the source rpm for RH8.0 without gtk2 option.
After two hours of re-compiling I now have new 11 rpms for RH8.0 without gtk2
but xft still enabled.
Here is the result:
It works!! I now have Mozilla 1.4 RPMs for RH 8.0 which is fully compatible with
older plugins specially RealPlayer 8.
So anyone care to try my rpms? Where can I contribute this rpms to?
