In Mozilla 1.5a (and also in Thunderbird 0.1), you can see an IM icon in the
addressbook (the menubar on top). In Netscape it was connected to the AIM
service, but in Mozilla, it was not functional (you got a "aim is not a
registered protocol"). The same thing with the icon that appears in the card
when you have a screenname (not in Thunderbird apparently).

Wouldn't it be better to grey out the icon, unless an IM handler is installed.
This would have been the AIM extension ofcourse, but since Netscape is now dead
... Maybe we should open it up to other IM handlers too (ICQ, Yahoo, MSN,
Jabber, ...), either with an extension, or a helper application.

Also see Bug 212221. That leads to a crash from using the IM button with no IM
around.
