I've noticed that when I position the mouse over a picture and do a "Save Image"
it is painfully slow. I have a 15k jpg that I was saving and it took 18 seconds
to save, explorer was able to save the same picture in 4 seconds. Similar
results were seen on other pictures. It doesn't really matter which web page
you choose, it's equally slow for all.
It also hangs up browser (i.e. I can't click on any other mozilla tabs/windows).
It might be better if the browser runs the "save as" a separate thread.
I am running on a slower machine at the moment, but it was striking how slow
this op was compared to explorer (when Mozilla seems to work better in most
ways). This isn't a show-stopper bug, but an efficiency issue.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.pick an image on the web and do "Save Image As"
2.
3.
Actual Results:
It took a very long time to save the image to the disk.
Expected Results:
probably should have been faster.

I have noticed the same thing. It seems to have gotten worse as time goes on.
I haven't done any real testing, but it seemed to go fast again today, when I
was saving a file into a directory that had only a couple of files already in
it, instead of the hundreds that are in the directory I have been using. See if
that makes a difference for you. If so, it's probably due to OS filesystem
issues, or maybe a fragmented disk.
I'm using the same version of Mozilla, but on Windows XO Pro.

Could you please open the download manager and remove all the entries found there?
Mozilla is saving files very fast right now. It had been slow for several
months. Suddenly it speeded up for no known reason. I didn't empty the
download manager (now I have nuked the list and keep the list small). I've been
told that it has nothing to do with it, but when I installed Firebird, Mozilla
immediately speeded up. It may just be coincidence, but the problem is no
longer present on my machine.
Go figger.

I was seeing this problem on Win XP. When I emptied the entries
in the download manager, the problem instantly went away.
Perhaps a better description of this bug would be:
save image is very slow when download manager has many entries.
