User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624

I upgraded my browser from 1.3 to 1.4. It seemed to go OK. As part of the
process, it started the browser as root. I killed it and started as me.

The bookmarks were missing. Cookies were there, browser history was there, but
bookmarks were gone.

I went to my .mozilla direxctory to se what happened:

(the .bak file seemed to be the version that came with Red Hat. I may have
created it myself, I don't recall.)

My multi-megabyte, eight year accumulation of bookmarks seems to have been
overwritten. I'd throttle someone if they were close at hand.

I am running Red Hat 8.

You have killed the process. IMHO this is a dupe of Bug 193749 "bookmarks and
personal preferences are lost after system crash due to power failure".
Product: Browser → Seamonkey
