Details

When viewing or printing short messages, I often see one or two spurious
trailing characters at the end of a message. If I click back and forth amongst
several messages, the character displayed (or printed) for a single message
varies (randomly?).

It appears that there is some uninitialized trailing memory in a buffer that is
passed around in rendering and printing, that is visible. I don't have any idea
whether this is a mail bug (although, as I pointed out, the trailing characters
for a given message are not persistent), or a layout bug (adding characters to
the end of a region?) or a libnet level bug (appending extra characters on the
end of a received buffer?).

...but someone is doing this :-(. It regularly shows up in my dogfoodsnack
print outs, and is most noticable in (after) short messages with no sig.

I have several folders of email with messages that regularly display these
trailing characters (never more than two).
This is a bug that I filed already against ducarroz. He has a fix. I'll find
the bug number.
