Here is a GIF that was posted to the Netscape.Communicator group in article snews://secnews.netscape.com/3855931C.A40C6B28@akkadix.com. The user is using a Perl script to generate GIF's representing various protein sequences. He posted because Communicator is unable to display these GIF's. Further testing by myself indicates that Mozilla will not display them either. The GIF does display in IE5 without a hitch.
