WFM 20031029 Firebird/0.7+. I tried to reproduce this, but the search bar didn't
disappear, no matter where I moved it. Can you guys still see the bug on newer
builds?

I still see it with the 2003-10-29 nightly on WinXP and a fresh profile.

I apologize. I played with my Mac version (20031029 Firebird/0.7+) at home
tonight and I can reproduce the bug afterall.
Actually, the problem is a bit broader than was outlined here. If you go to
Toolbars->customize, and then move around the icons in the browser window, you
can make ANY toolbar icon vanish by simply dragging it on top of another icon
immediately to its left. It doesn't always work, so you often have to try
multiple times, but if you get it JUST right, the icon vanishes.

Like the original poster, I like to have my entire menu / buttons / url bar /
etc on a single line. I just decided to incorporate the search bar and drug it to
the left of the URL bar. I then added a couple of engines and suddenly the
search bar was gone. I was able to get it back by "restoring defaults" under
toolbar options and again drug all my icons and bars to the top line (turning
off bookmarks and navigation toolbars in the process) this time putting a
separator between the URL bar and the search bar. I closed and re-opened
firefox and the search bar was gone again, but this time when I "restored
defaults" there was no
longer a search bar anywhere. It does not appear on any of the toolbars (I have
them all turned on now) nor does it appear in the "options" screen any more(!!!).
It has completely vanished.
BTW, this is firefox 0.9 on a windows 2000 system.

I forgot to mention that selecting web search from the menu or clicking ^K does
nothing. It doesn't even change focus out of the place I'm currently in.
Tested on W2K Nightly build 20050216 and i was not able to reproduce this problem.
I even edited my user.js to see if i could force it to behave badly but it
worked like it was supposed to according to my view.
Is this still an issue on Linux with the latest build?

Can this still be reproduced? Clearer steps to reproduce would be helpful.

Firefox 3.0b3pre on os X does not have the ability to grab the bar as suggested, I suggest a change of target os to be more specific. Also we need clearer stpes to reproduce this bug.
Does it even exist anymore?

Wait, I can grab it as suggested, but can not reproduce. My question still remains, is the original poster able to repro with latest build?

I tried to drag the search bar into many different places on the toolbars, and could never reproduce it disappearing, as well as looks like nobody could reproduce in the last many years, so I think this can now be resolved as WFM.
