User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030827 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030827 Some messages have their contents and header cleaned up, showing everything blank whenever I run compact folders. Other messages have their content add or appended into another messages. This seems to happen only with messages in the Inbox folder and subfolders. I have this problem since Mozilla 1.4. I don't have a very big number of messages (neither KB) in my inbox. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Inbox folder or subfolder selected. 2. Go into File > Compact Folders 3. Actual Results: Messages' contents disappear or are added/appended into another messages. Expected Results: Should keep the messages as they arrived. There is no crash of Mozilla, but I have already lost a lot of messages when compacting folders.
I had all my folders/messages under my account and nothing under Local Mail. I moved almost all folders to local mail and it seems not to happen anymore, at least for the Inbox where I noticed this problem. My end-user-opinion is that it's a workaround and not a fix. tks.
no, you're correct, that's just a workaround. Do you manually run compact folders, or manually compact the inbox (as opposed to letting the auto-compact feature run)? The only thing I can think is that you're getting new mail arriving while you're compacting the inbox. The code is supposed to protect against that, however.

compact when there's incoming mail is not allowed. actually i also made it working offline and the result was the same: loss of content. i've never used the auto-compact. I usually compact folders when outgoing email are not saved in the sent folder. i took it as a signal to know when it's "compact folder time".
Are you saying you're out of disk space? Is that why copying to the sent folder stops working?
i have space enough. sometimes, after sending the mail, it stops informing "copying to sent folder" and remains like this until i cancel or error message pops-up ("not able to copy"). will try to reproduce the error and post attachment.
tried to reproduce it, but no success. should this # remain open? or better to open a new if it happens again?
if this is working now, I'll just mark it wfm. If it happens again, please just re-open this same bug. Thx!

hi, i started to use one inbox instead of dividing and got the problem again. i started the first msg download of the day and there was a bigger msg. while it was downloading, i started working with the others. when it was finished, the msg was totally blank. then i compacted folders and these new msg disappeared. fortunatelly i am keeping it on the server and could recover the msgs in another profile. the attachments are from older msgs. the newest ones are ok. only old are affected. pls let me know if i can provide any other info. thx.
