I could not get my emails using POP3, using 20030916 (20030916)

Messenger would pretend to be busy, was actually was doing nothing.

I had to go back to 
20030911 (20030911)
and POP3 worked again immediately.........




Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click on "Get new Messages"

Actual Results:  
Nothing happened........  that's the problem ';-)


Expected Results:  
receiving my new emails.....

seems similar to bug 219188 which should be fixed in 20030916.
Can you attach a log via "create a new attachment" ? See instructions here:

See bug 219657 for POP3 log. There is no oddness in the log that I can see.

e-mail me your prefs.js? Do you have pop3 leave on server set?

DETAILS

A.  I get the same errors with the latest build --
	-rwxrwxr-x 1 22 22 12430032 Sep 17 09:58 mozilla-win32-installer-sea.exe
Namely:

1. After clicking on the "Get New Message" icon, Messenger pretends to get the
messages, but actually does nothing.

2. the POP3 log file is created by Mozilla but is empty after attempting a "Get
New Messages", and it remains empty after closing Mozilla.

3. Here are the SET commands I used --
	Set NSPR_LOG_MODULES=POP3:5
	Set NSPR_LOG_FILE=C:\temp\1MozBugs.log


B.  However, as soon as I use the build --
	Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030911
everything goes back to normal, and POP3 works fine, and the POP3 log file does
fill up with all the transactions....


C.  The | Help | About |  is still not working with the latest build --

Unfortunatelly there was more than one change between 20030911 and 20030916.
Could you lower it down to one day? So trying 20030914 and if it works,
20030915; if not, 20030913.

Darin, it turns out this regressed 09/12,which is after the dns rewrite landed, 
I believe, and before my pop3 delete from server changes landed. Michel is 
using dns addresses as host names for pop3 and smtp server, and it's stopped 
working. Michel sent me an error message recieved when using smtp with the 
09/12 build but I can't read it (perhaps a webmail problem).

After looking at the dupes more closely (while not understanding mail logs
well), I see how SMTP problems like Bug 220409 were caused by bug 219376), but
I'm not sure the POP problems were.

Can someone confirm this works better now, I'm not certain I should have
verified/dupe.
