User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20030925
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20030925
When I open this URL, mozilla stops responding. The cursor (when hovering over a
mozilla window) begins to blink in a funny way. Mozilla does not respond to any
commands (keyboard or mouse) and must be shut down at this point.
While mozilla is unresponsive after loading the above URL, its memory usage
slowly climbs (as seen in task manager). It seems to gain a couple hundred kb,
then lose a couple of hundred, then gain some. The trend is always upward, so if
you let it sit there, it will slowly eat up more and more memory - I let it get
to 70MB before shutting it down.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open this URL in Mozilla 1.5 RC2:
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/cms.dll/html/uncomp/articleshow?msid=155630
Actual Results:
Mozilla is unresponsive and needs to be restarted. See details.
Expected Results:
The website should have loaded, or at least given some kind of an error.

confirming on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20030926
However, if I disable Javascript for Navigator in the Advanced Preferences,
the website is working fine.

Yesterday's CVS build on Linux doesn't crash - maybe a Windows-only bug.
BTW, what you describe is a hang, not a crash. Updating summary.

Oliver, you're right it is a hang, not a crash.
I tried disabling JavaScript (I have Prefs Toolbar installed) as per Hermann's
comment. This indeed alleviated the issue.
As I said previously, I am using Mozilla with the following extensions: Prefs
Toolbar, Mouse Scrolling, and Mouse Gestures with the Pinball theme. Please tell
me if you need any more information pertinent to this issue regarding my
computer or programs I'm running. I can also run any tests you need me to run.

I´m using a plain vanilla mozilla, no extensions installed. I´ve retried with
Javasacript Console started before loading the website, and the Console shows
lots of warnings. Then I tested with Mozilla 1.4.1, getting the same result, a hang.
When I retested, I stopped the load after I saw the website rendered, but not
finished, and I had no problem, I could read the article, scroll. A Reload then
gave me an instant hang, no scrollbars working. When hanging, only Mozilla
hangs, Windows and Windows programs are responding.
Opera 7.2 is working fine.

I found another URL which causes the same bug to manifest itself in Mozilla.
The URL to trigger the bug is:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102045/plotsummary
