User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030911
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030929
Performing a search for LDAP addressbook listing in recent builds causes Moz to
hang for a bit and no results are found. This happens in both a new mail window
and in the addressbook .... reverting to a previous version of Moz (2003091104)
allows me to use LDAP searches without problems.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Create LDAP Directory. Set it for default search when creating mail. Create
New Mail. Type in a name to search ....
Actual Results:
Mozilla hangs for quite a few seconds and returns no results.
Expected Results:
Results should be listed below address window.

Still trying to narrow down the bug ..
1) Ethereal capture shows NO packets being sent to LDAP (Port 389)
2) This problem is specific to XP Only (NT 4 is working fine)
I have removed entire MOZ directory .. I have created a new profile .. none of
these troubleshooting ideas are helping ..

WORKAROUND:
This problem was a result of the MICROSOFT ADVANCED NETWORKING PACK that
installs IPv6 Peer-to-Peer, etc.
The Network Connection in XP had IPv6 installed, but disabled.
I had to remove Uninstall IPv6 (via command line IPv6 UNINSTALL) and reboot ..
everything is working fine now.
Can someone else confirm that LDAP does not work with IPv6 installed on XP and
unchecked as a working protocol for the network connection?

I'm not sure if LDAP works with IPv6 installed or not. Cc'ing Dan and Darin.

No. The LDAP-IPv6 Bug was introduced between 1.5 release and 1.6 alpha as
described in Bug 228439 . Until 1.5 release LDAP worked on Win XP perfectly if
IPv6 stack was installed.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
