Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030827
After composing an email with "pasted" HTML directed to at least one address
book recepient marked as (text-only or unknown?), the entire email is SILENTLY
converted to text and ALL formatting is lost. This even though email
preferences are set to ALWAYS SEND HTML! Regardless of settings, Mozilla
should NEVER do any format changes which will result in dropping edits without
at least asking for confirmation!!!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open email composition window
2. Include two address book recipients (one set to html the other plain text)
3. Open a webpage in another application (IE or something) and copy and paste
a table
4. Do a few edits (not sure if this is necessary)
5. Send email
Actual Results:
The table I pasted had *some* images with relative paths so Mail attached the
absolute URL images but said it could not attach the relative ones. It then
sent the message. When I check my sent folder the message is in text format
and all of my formatting is gone. Both recipients of the email received text-
only email as well.
Expected Results:
AT A MINIMUM, I expect mail to NEVER convert to text without warning me that
html formatting will be lost. In my opinion, if the send options say "always
send html", it should do just that... even if I compose a text only message!

In my testing, if I send to multiple recipients who were listed with different
"prefers mail" settings, Mozilla abides by the Send Format preference. Only if
*all* the recipients are "prefers plain text" does Mozilla convert mail with
HTML elements/formatting to plain text without warning.
See in particular bug 187064 comment 24.
If you have specific data to the contrary, please post it in the duplicate bug.
