RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 221013

People

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031004
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031004

When you attempt to reply to a newsgroup posting, the newsgroup(s) to which the
reply is to be posted show up as "To:" headers rather than "Newsgroup:", and if
you submit the reply you get an error dialog saying that the mail server
rejected the message due to it not being a valid e-mail address.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to any newsgroup posting
2. Click on the "Reply" button
3. Write a reply and click on "Send"

Actual Results:
Got an error that it was trying to send mail to an invalid address. Then the
"Compose" window came back up. At this point, in some cases I was able to
change the "To:" field(s) to "Newsgroup:" using the pulldown menu there, but
other times this caused the program apparently to hang; if I waited long enough,
eventually it gave a dialog about a script running too slowly and asking if I
wanted to abort it. (Perhaps this should be a separate bug.)

Expected Results:
Send the reply to the proper newsgroup(s).

It works if you blank out the "To:" fields and put the newsgroup name in a new
"Newsgroup:" field below. Trying to change "To:" to "Newsgroup:" with the
pulldown in the existing field often fails as noted above.
