22166 - CPU Usage spikes after sending message

Status: VERIFIED DUPLICATE of bug 23778

Description

DESCRIPTION:  After I send a simple email message (after clicking a mailto:
link), the CPU Usage (as shown on a little CPU monitor I have in my taskbar)
goes up to 100% and stays that way until I exit Mozilla.  The system is quite
sluggish when this is happening.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
 * click on a mailto link to send email to someone (not me, but that's what I did!)
 * type "Test" in the subject
 * type "Test" in the message
 * hit the "Send" button

ACTUAL RESULTS:
 * about a second or two after hitting "Send", the CPU Monitor spikes to 100%
and stays at 100% until I exit Mozilla.

EXPECTED RESULTS:
 * normal CPU usage

DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY ON:
 * Linux mozilla 1999-12-18, debug build from 10:00 PST
 * Linux mozilla build on mozilla.org from a day or two earlier

I determined the guilty thread using gtop, and got some stack traces of what
that thread was doing.  I'll attach them.  (Each one is from a different time I
suspended.)

I can't reproduce this, and the stack traces don't give me any clues. They just
seem like random snapshots of normal activity.

I'm still seeing this on the opt build 2000-01-04-09-M13 (Linux mozilla).

This has got to be a dup of 23778 which was fixed on 1/21. Reopen if not.

I'm marking this verified because it's fixed in 2000-01-31 (my opt build).
