(Reporter: matt.dubord, Assigned: sspitzer)
Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705)
Build Identifier: 1.4.1
When you get a message that Mozilla marks as Junk, it would be nice if Mozilla
didn't play a sound notification unless there was also a message(s) that it
didn't think were junk. The mail icon should probably change to notify the user
that there's new mail that's possibly junk, but no sound should be played.
Nothing is more frustrating than hearing the new mail notification, walking over
to the computer, logging in and finding out that the mail is junk. Mozilla
correctly identifies junk, but it's not a priority that I know immediately that
it's found junk mail.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get some junk mail.
2.
3.
Expected Results:
I'd like to see no sound notification, just a change to the icon on the system
tray that lets the user know there is new mail but that it may be junk.
The user agent above is incorrect because I changed it myself in order that
Mozilla would identify itself as IE to websites. I'm using 1.4.1. I downloaded
it immediately after release the other day.

With the fix for bug 189289 something like this is implemented. You don't get a
new mail notification when new junk mail arrives. Only the unread message count
increases. This way you are not disturbed be alerts caused by unwanted mail, but
still have some visual indication about the new junk mail. This feature is
already part of current nightly builds.
I think this is very much what you want, thus this is a duplicate.
