Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7
The whole site is in flash. If you hoover above one of the four icons some text
should appear above and change when you go above another icon.
With mozillafirebird 0.61 everything works fine
in the 0.7 build, it does not work, flash is dead slow.
The problem occurs only with the gtk2/xft build.
It has been reported in the mozillazine forum; I'm unable to put in the link
since it is down for now.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.goto www.rencontres-audiovisuelles.org (or any flash site)
2. hoover above the four icons
Actual Results:
nothing
you need to double click the icon for the window to open
Expected Results:
some text should appear above the icons
a simple click opens the new window

does it happen in an 0.6.1 gtk2+xft build? (are there any?)
also, what about a mozilla gtk2+xft package? is that slow as well?

0.6.1 gtk2+xft builds work, I'm using one since 0.7 does not.
A weird thing is that under redhat 9.0 the problem is not there; since redhat
uses a modified version of gnome2.2, the problem might be with the prefs system
of the original gnome 2.2/2.4 or with the mandrake distro.
this problem was discussed here
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=28282
I'll try a gtk2/xft build of mozilla 1.5 and report here.

.61 with GTK2+XFS worked well with flash, but .6 did not.
now .7(release) and the older RC3 with gtk2+xfs is really bad with flash.
www.hsv.com.au <-- flash loads but is extremely slow
www.virginblue.com.au <-- airline site, half the map doesn't even open just a
blank square
the above sites worked perfectly in .61
I'm on Mandrake 9.1, Gnome is NOT installed but its libraries are. I'm using
KDE3.1, 2.66ghz P4, 1024MB RAM, 128MB geforce 4 video card. The system is more
than capable of displaying flash.
.7 without XFS displays flash fine but the fonts are bad...

I got a workaround.. it's weird
Instead of installing the flash plugin in the firebird plugin directory, install
it in mozilla (1.4 for me) and create a plugins symlink, linking to the mozilla
plugin directory
And flash works just fine!!
MozillaFirebird]$ ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla-1.4/plugins/ plugins
plugins]$ pwd
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.4/plugins
plugins]$ l
flashplayer.xpt@ libflashplayer.so@ libnullplugin.so* raclass.zip rpnp.so*

After another round of testing I noticed that
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.4/plugins/libflashplayer.so was not the same I had under my
MozillaFirebird plugin.
I copied the file under MozillaFirebird/plugins and it now works
So I guess the problem is actually not with MozillaFirebird but with the version
of flash; the Shockwave Flash 6.0 r79 is okay.
maybe those gcc2/gcc3 issues with the old plugin version.
Anyway bug 219625 deals with the same thing so I guess this one should be
considered a dupe.
